Cowboys Update: Randy Gregory, Neville Gallimore Among Roster Moves

Ahead of Sunday’s divisional rivalry against the Washington Football Team, the Dallas Cowboys made several roster adjustments.

Both defensive end Randy Gregory and defensive tackle Neville Gallimore were activated to the roster from Reserve/Injured and will play at Washington. Gregory missed the last four games with a calf strain suffered the week leading up to the team’s road game at Arrowhead. He is second on the team in sacks (5.0) and third in quarterback pressures (20). Gallimore suffered a dislocated elbow in the preseason game at Arizona and Sunday will mark his first snap of football all season long. The initial timeframe projected Gallimore back on the field ahead of Week 14, but the Cowboys exercised caution given the demands of the three-technique position. The interior position requires an emphasis on arm strength/hand placement in shedding blocks in the trenches. Gallimore will make his much-anticipated return and for the first time since Week 1 at Tampa Bay, Dallas will have Gregory, DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons on the field together. Sources tell D210SPORTS that both Gregory and Gallimore will be on a pitch count – 20-25 snaps as both reacclimate into the lineup.

To create a roster spot, the Cowboys waived defensive tackle Justin Hamilton. As a rotational depth piece, Hamilton registered 11 tackles in eight games played in 2021.

Parsons was limited in Thursday’s practice due to a hip injury but his availability for Sunday was not in question. On Friday, Mike McCarthy said the injury flared in practice and described, “I don’t think it’s of a serious nature.”

Running back Tony Pollard did not practice this week due to a foot injury suffered against the Saints. On his 58-yard touchdown run, Pollard told media he felt a tear in his plantar fascia. He is officially listed as questionable. However, the good news, doctors have expressed that once you tear the plantar fascia, it “heals better.” Pollard is working towards that point in his rehabilitation. As a contingency plan, the Cowboys used one of their standard practice squad elevations on running back JaQuan Hardy.
