FORT WORTH, TX – TCU Men’s Basketball opened its season with a 77-61 win over McNeese State. This win is noted as TCU’s 14th straight season-opening win, moving Head Coach Jamie Dixon to 19-0 on season openers.

With eight new faces this season, the Horned Frogs seemed to be working out lineups and rotations early on in the first half as 11 guys saw the court in the first nine minutes.

Coach Dixon said post-game that finding a rotation that works is not easy. Referring to Damion Baugh’s exit early on in the second half for an ankle injury after putting up 6 points in the first half.

Mike Miles lead the team in scoring with 22 points, 2 rebounds, and 5 assists. Miles exited the game for injury early in the second half but returned minutes later to help the Frogs solidify the win.

Miles was not the only Horned Frog that showed potential tonight.

In his first game with TCU, transfer Emanuel Miller completed the game with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Eddie Lampkin Jr. finished with a career high 8 points in scoring for the Frogs.

Despite the talent on offense, Coach Dixon said the game did not go as he would have hoped.

“Offensively, we just kind of went backwards and just got sped up. I think the emotions just took over,” Coach Dixon said. “We just didn’t handle it as well as I thought we would.”

However, the talent and energy the Frogs revealed gave the fans an idea of what to expect from this team for the rest of the season. Coach Dixon said that this game was just a starting point and he knows what the team needs to work on for the future.

Next up, TCU will continue its three-game homestand as it welcomes Southern Miss to Schollmaier Arena on Monday at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
