Zack Martin and Cam Erving to Miss “Multiple Weeks”

FRISCO, Texas — The saying goes, “when it rains it pours” and that has certainly been the case for the Dallas Cowboys in 2020 with injuries piling up. On the first offensive series against Washington on Thanksgiving, both starting tackles exited the game due to injury and did not return.

Both are expected to be out “multiple weeks, “ Mike McCarthy confirmed to local media on Friday.

Martin made his second-straight start at right tackle in Thursday’s 41-16 loss to the Washington Football Team and the six-time Pro Bowl guard strained his calf. He was quickly led to the locker room by the training staff and remained on the sideline with a walking boot and crutches for the duration of the game.

Erving made his fifth-straight start at left tackle and McCarthy stated that he has an MCL sprain.

The Cowboys’ offensive line has been banged up throughout the year with the team’s originated starting tackles La’el Collins (hip) and Tyron Smith (neck) on the Reserve/Injured list after both received surgery previously in the season. Rookie center Tyler Biadasz is also on IR after suffering a hamstring injury during pre-game warm-ups in week nine.

In week 11 vs. the Steelers, Zack Martin was moved to right tackle replacing Terence Steele and Connor McGovern came in at right guard. The combination had success and Ezekiel Elliott had his first 100-yard rushing game of the season and Andy Dalton was only pressured four times. The staff stuck with the same lineup against Washington and then they began dropping like flies.

The offensive line had to shift once again. Brandon Knight stepped in at left tackle and Terence Steele replaced Martin at right tackle.
