Ogunbowale 17 Point Not Enough, Wings Fall To Sparks

BRADENTON, FL – The Dallas Wings (6-11) fell to the Los Angeles Sparks (13-4) 91-83 Wednesday night despite a balanced scoring effort from the Wings that included every starter eclipsing double-digit point totals.

MVP hopeful and the WNBA’s leading scorer, Arike Ogunbowale, led the offense with 17 points, and Rookie of the Year hopeful Satou Sabally and veteran Allisha Gray each notched 16, marking the fifth time this season that three Wings players have had 15 or more points. Kayla Thornton and Marina Mabrey also added 11 and 13, respectively.

Sabally also pulled down 11 rebounds, giving her five double-doubles on the season. The Oregon product is the only rookie to tally multiple double-double this season.

Dallas continues to rain bombs from downtown, as the WNBA’s thee point leaders had three players with at least three threes for the third time this season, and the team made 13 three pointers as a whole, the eighth time the team has made at least 10 three pointers this season.

The Wings next duel the Minnesota Lynx (12-5) on Friday, September 4, at 7 p.m. on Facebook.
