SMU vs Georgia State Preview

Dallas, TX – SMU Men’s Basketball closes out their 2019 competition at Moody Coliseum on Monday, Dec. 23 against the Georgia State Panthers.

SMU started the year with 8 straight wins before falling to Georgetown and Georgia most recently. SMU entered the season with no seniors and many new faces on their roster. They didn’t return any starters from last season.

Picked 6th in the American Athletic Conference preseason poll, the Mustang’s are off to a strong start ahead of conference play. The Mustang’s won the Southwestern Showdown early in the year, beating UNLV, Jackson State, Hartford, and Abilene Christian.

Forward Isiaha Mike leads the Mustangs averaging over 16 points a game. He comes off a 25-point performance in the double overtime loss at Georgia.

SMU head coach Tim Jankovich brings an impressive 37-4 record in non-conference home games into tonight’s match-up.

The Mustang’s look to get back in the win column tonight at 6 pm against the 13-3 Panthers, who come to Dallas on a 7-game win streak. This will be the Mustang’s last tune up before conference play starts Jan. 1, when SMU hosts South Florida.
