DALLAS, Texas — The Dallas Mavericks have secured another season with Cooper Flagg, exercising the third-year team option on the reigning NBA Rookie of the Year.
The move keeps the young forward under contract through the 2027-28 season as Dallas continues to build its future around the former Duke standout.
Flagg made an immediate impression in his first NBA season, averaging 21.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists across 70 games in 2025-26. His production earned him Rookie of the Year honors and established him as a central figure in the Mavericks’ plans moving forward.
Dallas’ decision provides continuity as the franchise looks to develop its young core and compete in the Western Conference.
Exercising the option was a procedural step in Flagg’s rookie-scale contract, keeping him under team control for the upcoming third year of his NBA deal.
