FRISCO, Texas — FC Dallas is heading back to the MLS Cup Playoffs after earning a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Seattle Sounders FC on Wednesday night at Toyota Stadium.

Midfielder Kaick provided the decisive moment in the 63rd minute, finishing a chance created by defender Osaze Urhoghide to give Dallas the lead. The goal was Kaick’s fourth of the season and proved to be the difference in a match that demanded patience and defensive discipline from the home side.

The victory improved FC Dallas to 14-7-8, giving the club 50 points and securing its postseason berth for a second consecutive season under head coach Eric Quill.

Seattle entered the match riding a nine-game unbeaten streak, including four consecutive victories. Dallas ended that run by capitalizing on its opportunity and protecting the advantage through the final whistle.

Goalkeeper Daniel played a crucial role in the result, recording seven saves to earn his second shutout of the season with Dallas. His performance helped the hosts withstand Seattle’s attacking pressure, particularly during the closing stages.

Quill praised his players for their determination after the team faced sustained pressure late in the match. He pointed to their willingness to block shots, contest aerial balls and defend Seattle’s corner kicks as evidence of the group’s commitment.

The coach also viewed the performance as an important response following Dallas’ 3-2 loss to Charlotte FC in its previous outing.

Seattle finished with 11 corner kicks and seven shots on target but could not find an equalizer. The Sounders fell to 11-10-8, remaining on 41 points as their unbeaten run came to an end.

The result also marked a milestone for FC Dallas sporting director André Zanotta, who recorded his 100th victory across all competitions since joining the organization in 2019.

With a playoff place secured, Dallas will turn its attention to Saturday’s road matchup against Houston Dynamo FC. The club will look to carry Wednesday’s defensive resilience and late-game composure into the next stage of its postseason preparation
