DALLAS — The Dallas Stars battled the Colorado Avalanche in a tightly contested matchup Tuesday night but came up short, dropping a 3-2 decision on home ice.
Dallas showed improvement and created scoring opportunities throughout the game, but the difference came down to finishing chances. The Avalanche capitalized on their opportunities, while the Stars struggled to convert enough of theirs to secure the win.
Tyler Seguin led the Dallas offense with a goal and an assist, continuing his strong track record against Colorado. He has recorded 11 points, including nine goals and two assists, over his last eight games against the Avalanche dating back to March 4, 2023.
Defenseman Miro Heiskanen also made an impact, recording two assists on Dallas’ goals. He has collected five points in his last five matchups against Colorado, dating back to October 11, 2025.
Despite the loss, head coach Glen Gulutzan saw plenty of positives in his team’s performance.
“I thought we were good tonight,” Gulutzan said, describing the contest as a strong matchup between two competitive teams. He believed Dallas played well enough to earn a better result but acknowledged that converting scoring chances proved decisive.
Gulutzan also praised the team’s energy and determination, noting that the Stars competed throughout all 60 minutes but could not finish the job.
The game featured an emotional moment when Dallas forward Roope Hintz fought Colorado star Nathan MacKinnon. Seguin expressed some surprise at seeing his teammate drop the gloves but praised the competitive fire Hintz displayed.
“It’s awesome to see us compete,” Seguin said, while adding that the team would prefer to see Hintz avoid fighting too often.
The Stars will also have to account for the absence of forward Wyatt Johnston, who is dealing with an illness. Gulutzan confirmed after the game that Johnston would not travel with the team and would miss the next day’s matchup.
Dallas will look to build on the positives from Tuesday’s performance while finding a way to turn scoring opportunities into wins as the season continues.
