DALLAS — Mavericks forward/guard Cooper Flagg was named the NBA’s Western Conference Rookie of the Month for December, earning the honor for the second straight month.
The No. 1 overall pick averaged 23.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists over 13 games while shooting better than 51 percent from the field and over 80 percent at the line. He delivered multiple 20-5-5 games, consistently closed contests and continued to anchor Dallas’ offense despite his age.
Flagg’s month featured several headline moments, highlighted by a 42-point game in Utah that made him the youngest player in league history with a 40-point outing and tied the Mavericks’ rookie scoring record. He added a 27-point performance on Christmas Day against Golden State and continued to rank among rookie leaders across every major category.
Two months into his career, Flagg has already placed himself firmly in the Rookie of the Year conversation while becoming a nightly focal point for Dallas.
