DALLAS, TEXAS — Lee Roy Jordan, the hard-hitting linebacker who led the Dallas Cowboys’ legendary Doomsday Defense, died Saturday in Dallas of kidney failure, his son confirmed. He was 84.
A five-time Pro Bowler and Ring of Honor inductee, Jordan played his entire 14-year career in Dallas after starring at Alabama under Bear Bryant. Known for his toughness, leadership, and instinct, he was the heartbeat of Tom Landry’s defense in the 1960s and ’70s.
Jordan’s legacy as one of the most respected defenders in Cowboys history remains unmatched.
