SMU VS UCF PREVIEW

DALLAS, Texas – After several push backs due to hurricane Ian, SMU and UCF are set to play on Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT in Florida.

Last week, SMU announced four players that are expected to sit out for the rest of the season. Safeties Isaiah Nwokobia, Chance Cromartie and wide receivers Jayleen Record and Roderick Daniels will be redshirting the rest of the season so that they will be to use their one-time transfer waiver and not lose a year of playing time. All four players were key contributors to the Mustang’s special teams, so their absence likely won’t go unnoticed.

SMU Head Coach Rhett Lashlee told reporters on The Pony Express that the hardest part of simulating UCF in practice has been their speed. “We’ve played some fast teams these last two weeks, but I don’t know if they’re as fast as these guys,” Lashlee said. “Speed allows you to correct a lot of mistakes, and they play really hard.”

This game will be SMU’s first American Atheltic Conference opener of this season.
