Dallas Wings Fall ToWashington Mystics 84-68

ARLINGTON, TX- The Dallas wings were unable to secure another win against the Mystics tonight in their loss 84-68. Dallas had multiple players in double digits for points, but shockingly only shot 41% from the field.

Wings star player, Arike Ogunbowale finished with only 6 points tonight in the 32 minutes played. This comes after an incredible 21-point game on Sunday.

The Wing’s offense did a poor job of moving the ball around, giving the Mystics defense nothing too physically challenging.

At the half, Washington was up by only three points. “We got here in front of our fans and we became selfish. A lot of one on one basketball. Wedidn’t move the basketball.” Head Coach Vickie Johnson stated postgame, “We didn’t take pride in defending our home court and that is unfortunate because we are such a better team.”

Washington came out after halftime outscoring the Wings by eighteen points in the third quarter. Guard Marina Mabrey was taken out of the game at the end of the quarter due to foul trouble. Mabrey who led the team with thirteen points was later reentered at the start of the fourth quarter.

The Wings were unable to get within reach before the end of the game, resulting in an 84-68 loss. Marina Mabrey expressed her concerns post-game, “We have to look back and look in the mirror and think what can I do better for the team.”

The Wings will head to Arizona to face Phoenix Mercury, Thursday, May 19th at 9 pm CT.
