DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks have officially shut down Kyrie Irving for the rest of the 2025-26 season as he continues recovering from ACL reconstruction surgery.
Team officials said Irving has made steady progress but determined that prioritizing a full recovery for next season is the best course of action. He will remain around the team and continue rehab under the supervision of Dallas’ medical and performance staff.
“This wasn’t an easy call, but it’s the right one,” Irving said in a team statement, adding that he’s focused on returning stronger in 2026-27.
The move signals a long-term approach from the Mavericks, who view Irving as a cornerstone piece moving forward. Dallas returns to action Friday night at Minnesota.
