Mavs Lose Double-OT Thriller Despite Big Nights From Bench

DALLAS, Texas — The Mavericks dug into their first overtime test of the season and pushed the Clippers to double OT—something Dallas hasn’t done often in the last decade. Even in the loss, the Mavs flashed a growing defensive identity, grabbing 11 steals for the second straight game and notching their seventh double-digit steal outing through 13 contests.

D’Angelo Russell delivered his best performance as a Maverick with 28 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals, becoming just the ninth Dallas reserve to post a 25-5-5 line. He also crossed 11,000 career points.

Naji Marshall matched him with 28 points and a 9-of-10 night at the foul line, tying his career high in makes.
Rookie Cooper Flagg added 16 points, becoming one of only four Mavs ever to score in double digits in 12 of their first 13 games.

Max Christie extended his double-figure streak to 11 games and hit a three for the 13th straight outing.

The Clippers answered with heavy production: 30 made free throws, 16 steals, a season-best 27 from Ivica Zubac, and a historic 40-point triple-double from James Harden—the first in franchise history.
