SMU dropped a 48-45 double-overtime thriller to Baylor in its first OT game since 2024, despite explosive outings from Kevin Jennings, Romello Brinson, and TJ Harden.
Jennings came out red-hot, hitting Brinson for a 75-yard TD on the game’s first play. He finished 17-of-23 for 296 yards and 3 touchdowns — including two 75+ yard bombs. He’s now just the seventh ACC QB since 2000 to throw two 75-yard TDs in a game.
Brinson had 4 catches for 126 yards and 2 scores — his second straight 100-yard game. Harden added 115 yards and a career-high 3 rushing touchdowns. It marked the first time since 2024 that SMU had a 100-yard rusher and receiver in the same game.
Defensively, SMU forced two fumbles, made three fourth-down stops, and had six players with 8+ tackles. Ahmaad Moses had the lone sack.
The Mustangs fall to 1-1 and 30-13 under Rhett Lashlee. SMU is 27-3 when scoring 30+ points but couldn’t close it out in overtime.
