PHOENIX — The Texas Rangers saw their six-game win streak halted Tuesday night as Ketel Marte’s seventh-inning three-run homer lifted the Diamondbacks to a 5-3 victory.
Texas (72-68) jumped ahead early with RBI contributions from Wyatt Langford and Alejandro Osuna, but couldn’t hold the 2-0 lead. Jacob Latz gave the Rangers 5.1 solid innings before Arizona tied it in the sixth.
The game swung in the seventh. After Texas missed a chance to break the tie with two on and no outs, Hoby Milner gave up Marte’s 414-foot shot — his fourth straight game with a homer vs. Texas.
Despite the loss, the Rangers remain 1.5 games behind Seattle in the AL Wild Card race and extended their franchise record to 19 straight error-free games.
Next up: Jack Leiter (9-7, 3.77 ERA) starts Wednesday’s rubber match against Arizona’s Zac Gallen (10-13, 4.94 ERA).
