TORONTO — The Rangers let a late lead disappear Friday night as Toronto rallied for a 6-5 win at Rogers Centre, handing Texas its third straight loss.
Jacob deGrom threw five scoreless innings, and Texas built a 5-2 lead behind homers from Kyle Higashioka and Marcus Semien. But the bullpen faltered.
Alejandro Kirk crushed a two-run homer in the seventh, then drove in the go-ahead runs with a bases-loaded single in the eighth. Phil Maton took the loss after walking in a run just before Kirk’s hit.
Texas (61-62) continues to slide, now under .500 and struggling to close out games.
