DALLAS, TEXAS — The Dallas Mavericks have signed No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg, the team confirmed Tuesday. Contract details were not disclosed, per team policy.
Flagg, a 6-foot-9 forward, played one season at Duke, where he averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. He shot 48.1% from the field and 38.5% from three. The 18-year-old becomes just the second player ever drafted first overall by the Mavericks, joining Mark Aguirre.
The Maine native swept every major National Player of the Year award and was named ACC Player and Rookie of the Year—becoming one of the most decorated freshmen in college basketball history.
He set the ACC freshman single-game scoring record with 42 points against Notre Dame and led Duke in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks—something only one other freshman (Ben Simmons) has done in the last 25 years.
Flagg also helped Team USA win gold at the 2022 FIBA U17 World Cup and was named to the USA Select Team ahead of the 2024 Olympics.
He will suit up for the Mavericks during the NBA 2K26 Summer League.
