FRISCO, TEXAS — FC Dallas couldn’t hold on at home, falling 4-2 to the San Jose Earthquakes after two second-half red cards turned the tide at Toyota Stadium.
Petar Musa gave Dallas an early boost, netting his first home goal of the year—his sixth overall—off a feed from Luciano Acosta. “We felt we had the game under control,” defender Marco Farfan said. “But we gave them motivation with that corner kick goal. From there, they started to push.”
Shaq Moore’s equalizer in the 68th minute briefly leveled things, but back-to-back ejections left Dallas with nine men. “We gifted them with our decisions,” said head coach Eric Quill. “We were sloppy in too many moments.”
Despite the loss, Quill praised the effort. “I was proud of the fight from the nine guys left on the field. They kept chasing.”
Sebastien Ibeagha reached 200 MLS appearances, while the club extended its sellout streak to 25 straight games with 11,004 in attendance.
Goalkeeper Maarten Paes summed it up: “We feel a huge responsibility to the fans. Saturday’s another chance to show who we are.”
FC Dallas hosts San Diego FC this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on MLS Season Pass.
