FRISCO, TEXAS — The Dallas Stars are keeping one of their top producers in the fold, signing forward Matt Duchene to a four-year, $18 million extension that kicks in for the 2025-26 season.
Duchene, 34, led the team with 82 points (30G, 52A) over a full 82-game slate this past season, setting a personal best in assists and helping Dallas reach a third straight Western Conference Final. His performance earned him recognition as one of the league’s top forwards, along with several career milestones—including his 1,100th NHL game and 500th assist.
Since joining Dallas in 2023, Duchene has tallied 147 points, ranking second on the team during that span. His chemistry with the Stars was immediate, and General Manager Jim Nill called the fit “seamless.”
A former third-overall pick in 2009, Duchene has amassed 891 career points across five franchises and represented Canada on the international stage, winning gold at the Olympics, World Cup, and World Championships.
Now locked in through 2029, Duchene remains a critical piece in the Stars’ chase for a championship.
