El Capitán deserts FC Dallas for Houston Dynamo FC

FRISCO, TEXAS — FC Dallas is still without a win in MLS Regular Season play, having lost 2-0 to the in-state foe, Houston Dynamo FC.

No points in the win column since a 2-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City in late-March leave Dallas 4-5-4 a third of the way through the season.

Anderson Julio almost chipped goalkeeper Jonathan Bond from beyond half field in the 37th minute, but both of the night’s goals came from Houston Dynamo FC in the second half.

Head coach Eric Quill said, “it was all us in the first half.”

But Houston’s Jack McGlynn, the former Philadelphia Union midfielder, ripped one with his dominant left foot in goal in the 63rd minute to take the first lead of the game.

Quill said they knew they needed to be aware of him, that his goal is what changed the game.

“When you let the McGlynn’s of the world cut in on their left… you run the risk,” Quill said.

“The second goal just compounded the heartbreak,” Quill said about Griffin Dorsey, the right back, who scored the Dynamo’s second in the 81st minute.

Houston could only win back the trophy for the Texas Derby series, by beating Dallas by two goals or more. Although Dallas won this season’s first meeting, the Texas Derby finished in favor of the guys from H-Town.

FCD plays the New York Red Bulls in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 next Wednesday, before returning to MLS play at Seattle Sounders FC next Saturday.
