FC Dallas Draws 1-1 With Real Salt Lake

FRISCO, TEXAS — After three games on the road and a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup win earlier this week, FC Dallas returns to league play with a draw to Real Salt Lake.

Dallas last played and beat Salt Lake 1-0 at America First Field back in March, but that game saw a RSL side without Diego Luna, who was away with the U.S. Men’s National Team.

Luna, 2024 Utah Male Professional Athlete of the Year, scored in the 24th minute of tonight’s game on a laser from the top of the 18-yard box to put Salt Lake in front. The goal made for his seventh on the year, and sixth in the past six games.

Anderson Julio leveled things in the early stages of the first half. The former RSL forward, who was traded to FCD in Dec. of 2024, scored in the 53rd minute.

Shortly after, it felt like déjà vu—a red card issued to Salt Lake, just like the one that reduced RSL to 10 men midway through the first half back in March. William Agada was forced to leave the pitch in this one, with just over 30 minutes left to play.

Petar Musa made his return to game play in the 73rd minute, after missing nearly a month with an ankle injury.

After missing over a year due to knee injury, Paxton Pomykal made his long awaited back onto the field of Toyota Stadium to a resounding applause from the home crowd. The club’s longest-serving player subbed in the 81st minute.

With the draw, RSL still has lost just once since the 2017 season.

FC Dallas hosts the Houston Dynamo, next Saturday.
