ARLINGTON, TEXAS — The Mariners routed the Rangers 13-1 Thursday, dropping Texas to 16-17 and under .500 for the first time since Opening Day. Seattle (19-12) has won five straight and 17 of its last 21 against the Rangers.
Jack Leiter gave up six runs in 4.1 innings, including two homers to Cal Raleigh—one a grand slam. Raleigh now leads MLB with 12 homers. Julio Rodríguez added a two-run shot, and Rhylan Thomas doubled in his MLB debut.
Bryan Woo held Texas to one hit over 6.1 scoreless innings. Josh Smith broke the shutout with a solo homer in the ninth.
