Mavericks Play Nets In Home Season Opener

DALLAS, TEXAS — The Dallas Mavericks are back in American Airlines Center for their season opener Friday, October 27th to kick off the 2023-2024 season. Dallas will take on the Brooklyn Nets with a tip off at 7:30pm C/T. The Mavs are looking for another win after beating the San Antonio Spurs in their opener.

Dallas is hoping for their first 2-0 start since the 2019-20 season. The Mavs are averaging 126 points on 47% shooting and allowing 119 points on 51% shooting. Luka Dončić is averaging 33 points and 10 assists, while Kyrie Irving is averaging 22 points and 2 rebounds so far this season.

Another star to keep your eye on and is definitely a threat to any competitor is Derick Lively. Lively made the Mavericks front office look really smart Wednesday night against the Spurs. He was active defensively and a serious threat. San Antonio defenders had to keep their eyes on him the entire game, which opened up shots on the perimeter for Dallas.

Now when it comes to the Brooklyn Nets, they of course want their first win after losing their home opener to the Cavaliers. The Nets look to avoid their first 0-2 start since the 2015-16 season. Brooklyn is averaging 113 points on 50% shooting and allowing 114 points on 46% shooting so far this season.

Things we may expect to see tonight’s Mavs point guard Jaden Hardy not playing as much. Hardy is dealing with an ankle injury, so that might have something to do with his playing time.
