Mavericks Drop Pistons, 114-101 In Preseason Play

DALLAS — It was the final preseason game for the Dallas Mavericks as they defeated the Detroit Pistons 114-101.

One of the key storylines in tonight’s matchup is Kyrie Irving coming back after missing two preseason games with a groin injury.

Kyrie had a pretty decent game for just coming back by scoring 17 points with 8 rebounds and 11 assists.

With Luka Doncic and Jaden Hardy both being out with injuries the Mavericks were looking for someone to step up offensively and they found that in shooting guard Josh Green.

Green was aggressive on defense registering 2 steals and 1 block.  Offensively he also stuck out on the stat sheet leading the Mavericks with 22 points.

Green has a lot of decision making come Monday as his rookie contract will expire. If the Mavericks don’t offer him, it looks like he will be finding a new home, but after tonight’s performance it looks like there is a good chance Green will stay in Dallas.

The Mavericks will open their season this Wednesday when they travel to San Antonio to take on the Spurs at 6:30pm. As of right now Jason Kidd says that Luka is doubtful to return to the court for this game which is definitely something Mavs fans do not want to hear.
