TCU loses their 3rd straight game falling to No.14 Baylor Bears 72-68

FORT WORTH, TX — TCU did not take today’s game lightly and showed up huge defensively in the first half but struggled in the second half falling 72-68 to the Baylor Bears for the first time this season.

Damion Baugh led the Frogs with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 10 assists.

During the first half TCU had a slow start offensively but were quickly able to lock in. Micah Peavy stepped up in the absence of Mike Miles leading the team with 9 points. TCU trailed until Peavy put on sup under the rim bringing the game 25-24.

From there it was Jakobe Coles game. Shahada Wells missed a layup with 1:37 remaining when Coles recovered and put the ball back up. With a good layup and three-pointer Coles led the team into the half 34-31.

In the second half TCU started strong but eased off the gas.

Tau fell 64-68 but were able to come back in the last eight seconds. After that it was Baylor’s game.

Baylor was fouled by TCU’s Chuck O’Bannon which allowed Baylor’s Adam Flagler to go 2-2 in free throws with 1.4 seconds left.

Head Coach Jamie Dixon said postgame that although the rebound problem was addressed in the previous games there were other factors that contributed to tonight’s loss.

“Possessions. I think that got us but also free throws,” said Dixon. “Free throws also got us down the stretch. “

TCU will hit the road Wednesday to take on No.11 Iowa State Cyclones. Tip-off is at 8 p.m.
