Mavericks Gear Up For The Timberwolves

DALLAS, TEXAS — The Dallas Mavericks have its first home game since the All-Star break, as they host the Minnesota Timberwolves at 7:30 tonight inside the American Airlines Center.

The Mavs (34-23) are coming off a controversial loss against the Hawks on Saturday and owner Mark Cuban has made his opinion heard on the officiating late in the game.

The Mavericks have filed a protest over a shot Hawks’ center John Collins made after the whistle was blown with 8.4 seconds remaining in the game. Cuban wrote on twitter, “So they call a goaltend. They literally blew the whistle that it was a goaltend. There was a putback after the whistle. After review they said no goaltend but count the basket? WTF is that? That’s NBA officiating.”

The Mavs lost the game 111-107. The NBA has not responded to the complaints yet, but is supposed to by today. Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis are both expected to be back in the starting lineup tonight after sitting out for rest against the Hawks, as it was the 2nd night of a back-to-back. The Mavs will look to bounce back into the win column as they take on a struggling Timberwolves (26-39) team who is 2nd from the bottom in the Western Conference Standings.
