DALLAS, TEXAS — SMU Men’s Basketball team beat East Carolina University 84-64 at home on Wednesday night. The Mustangs are now 14-4 on the season and 4-2 in American Athletic Conference play.

SMU’s players said they couldn’t wait for their rematch with ECU, and that intensity and readiness showed from the start of the game. SMU played smart and aggressive early on, getting Temple in foul trouble and playing a much more complete first half than the Pirates. SMU took a 14-point lead to halftime.

SMU head coach, Tim Jankovich, sported red Nike court shoes in honor of the theme of the game, coaches vs. cancer. He said he was proud of the coaches for supporting a cause that effects so many lives and for the fundraising they’ve done to support research.

Jankovich also said he was proud of his teams performance tonight and that he felt it was his teams best offensive night so far this year.

Tyson Jolly earned a spot on AAC Weekly Honor Roll for his performance from last game against Temple, and he kept the momentum going with another great game shooting on Wednesday. Jolly had 17-points and 5 rebounds.

SMU’s next game will be Saturday Jan. 25 at the University of Memphis. Memphis ranks 20th nationally and will be a great challenge for the Mustangs.
