DALLAS, TEXAS — The Dallas Mavericks fell to the Charlotte Hornets 123-120 in overtime on Saturday night. Jan. 4, also the 20th anniversary of Mavs Owner, Mark Cuban, buying the team.

Mavs Head Coach, Rick Carlisle said the game was lost in the 1st quarter, when the Mavs got down double digits quickly. Carlisle also pointed to the 12 rebound difference between the teams. Kristaps Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr. didn’t play because of injury, but Coach Carlisle didn’t make that excuse for his teams lack of efficiency on the boards.

Dallas was down 13 at halftime, but they looked like a new team in the 2nd half. The Mavs outscored the Hornets by 17 points in the 3rd quarter to take a 4-point lead into the 4th quarter, but couldn’t hold onto it. The game was tied 103-103 at the end of regulation.

Point guard, Luka Doncic led the quick 3rd quarter comeback with 10-points and 4 assists in that quarter alone. Doncic finished the game with an impressive 39-points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. He now leads the NBA in triple-doubles.

Mavs have 4 more home games in a row, starting with the Chicago Bulls on Monday, Jan 6.
