Mavericks and Hornets Preview

DALLAS, TEXAS — The Dallas Mavericks will host the Charlotte Hornets tonight at American Airlines Center.

The Mavs come into tonight’s game 22-12 on the year and 5th in the Western Conference.

Dallas beat Brooklyn Thursday night, putting away the game with a huge 4th quarter performance by point guard, Luka Doncic. That win took an impressive outing from some of the depth on the team, with Kristaps Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr. both out with injuries.

The Mavs could be without Porzingis and Hardaway Jr. tonight. Porzingis has missed the last 2 games with knee soreness and Hardaway Jr. has a hamstring issue. Mavs head coach, Rick Carlisle emphasized the importance of handling both of their injuries conservatively, but said he and his team won’t make excuses.

The Hornets sit at 9th in the Eastern Conference and have a 14-23 record so far this year, but they’re coming off a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Hornets player to watch will be their point guard, Devonte Graham. Graham spent time with their G League team this summer and has recently been praised for his development and strong performances.

The Mavs fan theme for Saturday, Jan. 4 will be 80’s night. Tip off will be at 7:30 in the American Airlines Center.
