Rangers Finish Sweep of Mariners Behind Dominant Pitching Performance

ARLINGTON, Texas — Texas capped a statement series Wednesday afternoon, shutting out the Seattle Mariners 3-0 to complete a three-game sweep at Globe Life Field.

The win marked the Rangers’ first sweep of the season and their first against Seattle since September 2023. It also served as a sharp turnaround after being swept in their previous series, pushing Texas to 7-5 on the year and back above .500.

Pitching set the tone all series, and Wednesday was no exception. Texas arms combined for a two-hit shutout — the club’s first of 2026 — extending a strong stretch in which the staff has allowed two or fewer runs in five straight games.

Left-hander MacKenzie Gore led the effort, delivering five scoreless innings while allowing just one hit. He struck out nine and worked around two walks, earning his second win of the season. Through three starts with Texas, Gore has quickly made an impression, piling up 25 strikeouts — one of the strongest opening stretches by a pitcher in club history.

Seattle’s offense never found rhythm, managing only two singles on the afternoon and just 12 hits across the entire series. The Mariners have now dropped five straight games and nine of their first 13.

Texas broke through in the fifth inning against Seattle starter Bryan Woo. After four efficient frames, Woo unraveled during a 41-pitch inning that included three consecutive singles and a costly throwing error. Corey Seager added a sacrifice fly to cap the three-run surge — all the support Texas would need.

At the plate, Brandon Nimmo continued his hot start, going 2-for-4 with a double. He has reached base in 11 of 12 games this season and leads the club in multi-hit performances.

With momentum building, the Rangers now head west for a 10-game road trip beginning Friday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, followed by stops against the Athletics and another meeting with Seattle.
