ATLANTA, GA — The Dallas Mavericks couldn’t keep pace down the stretch Wednesday night as the Atlanta Hawks used a strong second-half push to secure a 124-112 victory.
Dallas stayed within striking distance for much of the night but struggled to generate consistent offense late as Atlanta created separation in the final quarter.
Klay Thompson led the Mavericks with 21 points, providing Dallas with a steady scoring presence throughout the game. However, the supporting offense never fully found its rhythm against Atlanta’s defensive pressure.
Rookie Cooper Flagg finished with 14 points but had an uneven shooting night, converting 6 of his 16 attempts from the field.
Dallas showed flashes offensively but couldn’t string together enough stops to slow Atlanta’s attack as the Hawks steadily built their advantage.
The Mavericks will look to bounce back quickly as they continue their road trip Thursday night against the Memphis Grizzlies in Memphis.
