ORLANDO, Fla. — TCU battled on the glass and got a breakout night from Micah Robinson, but it wasn’t enough to overcome UCF in an 81-71 loss on the road.
The Horned Frogs slipped to 2-3 all-time against the Knights and remain winless in two trips to Orlando. Head coach Jamie Dixon now stands at 3-3 versus UCF as TCU’s road struggles continued, falling to 3-5 away from home this season.
Despite the final margin, TCU controlled the rebounding battle, edging UCF 36-34. It marked just the second loss this season for the Frogs when winning the battle on the boards (14-2), a category that has long been a barometer of success under Dixon. Since his arrival, TCU is now 154-46 when outrebounding its opponent.
Robinson delivered the most productive offensive night of his career, pouring in a career-best 20 points. It was the first time he paced the Frogs in scoring and his 15th double-digit performance of the season. The guard also stayed hot from deep, knocking down 2-of-3 from beyond the arc and extending his streak to five straight games with at least one 3-pointer.
Xavier Edmonds added a strong inside presence, finishing with 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds to secure his seventh double-double of the year. His effort helped TCU stay competitive on the boards throughout the night.
David Punch facilitated the offense and led the Frogs with three assists, the second time this season he has topped the team in that category.
Still, timely execution down the stretch favored UCF, and TCU was unable to climb back after falling behind late in the second half.
With conference play tightening, the Frogs will need to translate their rebounding edge and individual performances into complete road efforts if they hope to reverse their fortunes away from Fort Worth.
