DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks leaned on depth and defensive pressure, but late execution and rebounding swung a 116-110 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night.

Dallas finished with 10 steals, its 12th game this season with double-digit takeaways, and had five players score 15 or more points for the sixth time this year. Max Christie led the way with 24 points, followed by Naji Marshall (21), Brandon Williams (20), Caleb Martin (17) and Cooper Flagg (16).

The Mavericks also hit 10 three-pointers, extending their streak to five straight games with double-digit makes.

Marshall delivered 21 points and 11 rebounds on his 28th birthday, becoming the fourth player in franchise history with a 20-point double-double on his birthday. Rookie Cooper Flagg added a clean stat line with 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists without a turnover.

For the Lakers, Luka Dončić became the youngest player in NBA history to reach 1,500 career three-pointers, while Deandre Ayton grabbed 11 rebounds as Los Angeles finished with a season-high 57 boards.
