DALLAS — Boopie Miller buried a running 35-foot three at the buzzer to give SMU a dramatic 77–76 win over Virginia Tech on Tuesday night at Moody Coliseum.
SMU trailed 76-72 with 29 seconds left before rallying. B.J. Edwards scored on a driving layup with five seconds remaining, and after Virginia Tech missed the front end of a one-and-one, the Mustangs set up Miller for the final shot — his third game-winner in the final three seconds at SMU.
Miller finished with 24 points, extending his double-figure scoring streak to 24 games, the longest by a Mustang since 2017. Jaden Toombs added his first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Mustangs (13-4, 2-2 ACC) also erased an eight-point second-half deficit, closing on an 11-5 run. The win kept SMU perfect at home at 11-0 and marked the program’s best home start since 2021-22.
SMU hosts No. 16 Virginia on Saturday.
