PROVO, Utah — TCU’s road struggles against ranked teams continued Wednesday night as the Horned Frogs let a second-half lead slip away in a 76–70 loss to No. 11 BYU at the Marriott Center.
TCU controlled much of the first half and carried a 36–30 advantage into the break, but BYU flipped the game after halftime behind a poised performance from freshman standout AJ Dybantsa. Dybantsa poured in 25 points, fueling a Cougars rally that erased the deficit and sealed the win down the stretch.
The Horned Frogs spent more than 21 minutes playing from in front and held BYU to just 20.8 percent shooting from three-point range, the lowest mark allowed by TCU this season. Still, timely buckets and defensive stops allowed the Cougars to take control late, leading for just over 14 minutes — enough to swing the outcome.
Xavier Edmonds paced TCU with 19 points, knocking down a season-high two 3-pointers and adding a team-best eight rebounds. Brock Harding continued to be the engine of the offense, handing out seven assists to lead the Frogs for the 14th time this season.
TCU fell to 1–4 against AP Top 25 opponents and slipped to 4–21 all-time versus BYU, including 1–2 since the Cougars joined the Big 12. The loss marked the third time this season the Frogs have been beaten after leading at halftime.
The Horned Frogs stay on the road and will look to rebound Saturday at Utah. Tipoff in Salt Lake City is set for 1 p.m. CT, with coverage airing on TNT.
