FORT WORTH, Texas — Brad Jackson accounted for four touchdowns and Texas State dominated the second half in a 41–10 win over Rice in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl on Friday.
Jackson threw three touchdown passes and ran for another as the Bobcats forced three turnovers. Lincoln Pare rushed for 106 yards and a score, while Beau Sparks had 87 receiving yards and Chris Dawn Jr. surpassed 1,000 receiving yards on the season.
“For us, we didn’t change anything — it just came down to playing our game,” Jackson said. “I didn’t play great in the first half…but we put our heads down and got to work in the second half.”
He added, “We were 3–6 at one point. To bounce back the way we did shows how resilient we are.”
Texas State finished with 436 total yards and held Rice (5–8) to 195. The Owls briefly pulled within 10–7 before halftime, but the Bobcats controlled the rest.
“I’m really happy for our players and coaches,” Texas State coach G.J. Kinne said. “It was an up-and-down year. Sparks created a spark and got us going.”
