DALLAS — Dallas Trinity FC wasted no time setting the tone Saturday night, striking early and holding firm for a 2–1 win over DC Power FC at the Cotton Bowl. The victory moves Trinity to 4-5-1 (13 points) and into fifth place as 2,569 fans turned out for Youth Soccer Day.
Allie Thornton opened the scoring in the 10th minute, blasting home a cross from Chioma Ubogagu for her third goal of the fall campaign. DC Power answered in the 21st when Gianna Gourley finished off a buildup to level the match.
Dallas regained control before the half. In the 31st minute, Gracie Brian met Samar Guidry’s service with a driven header, restoring the lead and ultimately sealing the result.
“We love getting to play here,” Brian said. “Being at home and showing what we’ve been working on means a lot to us. This is a huge win.”
Trinity leaned on its defensive shape to close out the final 45, limiting DC’s chances and improving to 3-2-0 at home. Sixteen players saw the field for Dallas, which managed six shots and three on frame.
The night also marked the return of midfielder Lexi Missimo, who made her season debut after appearing five times in the club’s inaugural campaign.
“It’s great to have her back,” head coach and GM Chris Petrucelli said. “She sees things other players don’t. It’s a piece we’ve been missing, and she’ll only get better.”
Thornton praised the team’s resilience in securing the points. “It wasn’t always the prettiest, but good teams find a way to win,” she said. “That’s what we did.”
TUDN Radio will re-air the match Sunday at 7 p.m.
Up next: Dallas stays home to host Carolina Ascent FC (4-3-4, 16 points) on Dec. 13 at 2:30 p.m. CST, part of the club’s Hat Tricks For Heroes celebration. The match will stream on Peacock and TUDN Radio.
