DALLAS — Tyler Seguin’s late first-period goal proved to be the difference as the Dallas Stars edged the Seattle Kraken 2-1 on Sunday night.
Casey DeSmith was sharp in net, stopping 30 shots — including nine while shorthanded — to secure the win in a matchup of backup goaltenders.
Wyatt Johnston tied the game with his league-leading seventh power-play goal before Seguin slipped a backhander past Seattle’s Matt Murray in the final seconds of the first period.
Miro Heiskanen added two assists, continuing his strong stretch with eight helpers in the last three games.
The Stars improved to 11-1-1 all-time against Seattle and remain unbeaten in regulation at home versus the Kraken.
Next up: Dallas travels to Ottawa on Tuesday.
