CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — SMU continues to roll through its debut ACC season, dismantling Boston College 45–13 on the road to improve to 7–3. Rhett Lashlee’s squad looked every bit like a contender, piling up 574 yards of offense and recording eight sacks in one of their most complete performances of the year.
Quarterback Kevin Jennings was sharp once again, throwing for 326 yards and three touchdowns — his second straight 300-yard game. Jennings spread the ball around to seven different receivers, with Yamir Knight (162 yards, TD) and Jordan Hudson (104 yards, TD) both topping the century mark. Tight end Matthew Hibner added a 37-yard score, while running back T.J. Harden churned out 130 rushing yards.
The Mustangs’ defense matched the offense’s dominance. Isaiah Smith was nearly unstoppable up front, tying a school record with four sacks, while the team totaled eight — their most since 2024 at Virginia. SMU also forced four turnovers, continuing their season-long trend of ball-hawking defense that leads the nation in takeaways.
On the ground, Derrick McFall provided the knockout punch, scoring three rushing touchdowns, including a 48-yarder that capped off the rout. SMU’s 32-point victory marked their largest margin in a road ACC game and their biggest road win overall since 2023.
Under Lashlee, the Mustangs have become a model of consistency — now 36–15 overall, 26–4 in conference play, and 13–1 in November. SMU has also scored 30 or more points in 31 of Lashlee’s 51 games, going 31–3 when reaching that mark.
Up next, SMU returns to Gerald J. Ford Stadium for a key late-season matchup against Louisville on Saturday, November 22. Kickoff time is still to be determined as the Mustangs look to close strong and stay in the hunt for an ACC title.
