DALLAS — SMU stayed perfect to open the season, improving to 2–0 after a 69–58 win over Texas A&M–Corpus Christi Thursday night at Moody Coliseum.
The Mustangs leaned on balanced scoring, strong rebounding, and tight defense to hold the Islanders to just 28.8% shooting — SMU’s best defensive mark since 2022.
Sophomore center Samet Yigitoglu anchored the paint with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks, securing his fourth career double-double. Boopie Miller led the team with 14 points and six assists, while Corey Washington (13) and Jaron Pierre Jr. (12) also scored in double figures.
“Everyone contributed,” said head coach Andy Enfield, now 2–0 this season and 26–11 in his second year at SMU. “We shared the ball, defended well, and finished possessions.”
SMU outrebounded AMCC 49–45 and knocked down 23 of 28 free throws. The Mustangs turned an 11–0 first-half run into a 32–25 lead and never looked back, leading by as many as 13 in the second half.
The Mustangs improved to 8–1 in regular-season non conference home games under Enfield.
Next up: SMU hosts Murray State on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. CT on ACCNX.
