HOUSTON — The Texas Rangers’ rally fell flat Wednesday as the Houston Astros completed a three-game sweep with a 5-2 win. Josh Jung and Cody Freeman gave Texas an early 2-2 tie, but Jose Altuve’s two-run homer in the third and Jeremy Peña’s fifth-inning solo shot off Jacob deGrom sealed the game.
The Rangers struggled with runners in scoring position, going just 2-for-8 and leaving seven on base. DeGrom lasted five innings, allowing five runs, while Cristian Javier and Houston’s bullpen shut the door. Texas drops their fourth straight and now faces mounting pressure in the AL West race.
