Rangers Beat Astros, Win Series and Gain Ground

The Rangers took down the Astros 4-2 Sunday to win the series and pull within four games of the AL West lead. They also stay 1.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot.

Patrick Corbin went 5.2 innings, allowing just one run and holding Houston hitless until the 5th.

All four Texas runs came with two outs in the 6th—highlighted by Josh Jung’s RBI double and Jake Burger’s two-run homer.

Framber Valdez gave up four runs (three earned) over seven innings, taking his first loss at Globe Life Field.

Texas now leads the season series 6-4 and needs one more win to clinch the Silver Boot.

Notables:

  • Jung and Burger had two hits each.
  • Dylan Moore scored on a wild play in the 2nd.
  • Peña extended his on-base streak to 19 games.
