Bueckers Breaks Rookie Record, But Wings Fall Late to Valkyries

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Paige Bueckers made Dallas Wings history Thursday night, but it wasn’t enough to snap the team’s skid. Despite a game-high 27 points from the rookie, the Wings fell 84-80 to the Golden State Valkyries at Chase Center.

Bueckers passed Arike Ogunbowale’s franchise rookie scoring record (630) and now ranks fourth all-time among WNBA rookies with 650 points. Dallas (9-33) held a 13-point lead in the third, but Golden State (23-18) surged late, closing on a 7-0 run to seal the win and clinch a playoff spot.

Haley Jones added 18 points and 7 assists. Maddy Siegrist had 16, and Myisha Hines-Allen posted a double-double (12 pts, 11 reb).

Dallas wraps its road slate Sunday in L.A. before finishing the season at home vs. Phoenix on Sept. 11.
