FORT WORTH — With TCU clinging to a 10-7 lead late in the first half, senior safety Bud Clark made the play that broke the game open.
Reading North Carolina quarterback Gio Lopez perfectly, Clark jumped a third-down pass and raced 25 yards for a pick-six — the turning point in what became a 48-14 statement win for the Horned Frogs.
Clark, a Jim Thorpe Award watch list selection, added five tackles and helped lead a defense that gave up just 222 total yards — only 50 rushing — as TCU dominated on both sides of the ball.
The performance earned Clark Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors, his first career weekly award from the league.
TCU (1-0) gets a bye this week before returning home to face Abilene Christian on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
