SACRAMENTO, CA — The Texas Rangers stayed hot on Saturday, beating the Oakland Athletics 9-3 for their fourth straight win. Josh Jung had three hits, including two RBI doubles, while Merrill Kelly allowed three runs over 6 1/3 innings.
Wyatt Langford and Dylan Moore homered, and Michael Helmen added a two-run double. Kyle Higashioka drove in two, and every Rangers hitter recorded at least one hit.
Oakland’s rookie Mason Barnett struggled in his MLB debut, giving up five runs in just over four innings. Key defensive plays included Langford robbing a home run in the fifth and Carlos Cortes making a similar catch for the A’s in the sixth.
Texas has now won five straight against Oakland and leads the season series 7-5.
