DALLAS, TEXAS — Dallas Trinity FC opened the 2025/26 Gainbridge Super League season in comeback fashion, defeating Spokane Zephyr FC 2-1 Saturday night at the Cotton Bowl.
After giving up an early goal in the 21st minute, Trinity responded with second-half strikes from SMU alumnae Wayny Balata (48’) and Golden Boot winner Allie Thornton (70’), lifting the club to all three points in front of 2,763 fans.
“I think the difference was that we executed our chances,” said Thornton postmatch. “We were dangerous in the first half. We put ourselves in good spots and we just had to be patient. I think it’s a great starting point for us…we have a lot to build on and to improve on in the games to come.”
Trinity led in total shots (8-3) and edged Spokane in possession (51%). Several players made their club debuts, including starters Rylee Foster, Samar Guidry, Maya McCutcheon, and Balata, while Kiley Dulaney and Caroline Kelly came on as substitutes.
