ARLINGTON, TEXAS — The Rangers stayed hot Tuesday night, topping the A’s 6-2 at Globe Life Field for their third straight series victory and improving to 4-1 since the All-Star break. Texas has now allowed just seven earned runs over that five-game stretch, sporting MLB’s best ERA in that span.
Jacob deGrom set the tone with a dominant outing, striking out nine over six innings to earn his 10th win of the year. After giving up a leadoff homer to Lawrence Butler, deGrom locked in, retiring 18 of his final 21 batters. His ERA now sits at 2.28—third best in the American League.
Offensively, Corey Seager extended his on-base streak to 23 games with a double and a three-run homer, while Marcus Semien snapped an 0-for-14 slump with a go-ahead solo blast in the sixth. Adolis García also added a 426-foot solo shot, his 14th of the season, and Josh Smith chipped in an RBI single.
The A’s dropped their second straight in Arlington and fell to 1-4 on their 10-game road trip. Starter J.T. Ginn held his own through five innings, but Oakland’s bullpen couldn’t hold back Texas’ late surge.
With the win, the Rangers continue their climb above .500, now winners of 23 of their last 38 games. They’ll go for the sweep tomorrow before welcoming the Astros to town.
