HOUSTON — The Texas Rangers closed out their series against the Astros with a 5-1 win Sunday, powered by Marcus Semien’s 250th career homer and another Houston-crushing blast from Adolis García.
Nathan Eovaldi was sharp, holding the Astros to five hits and one run while striking out eight over 7 2/3 innings to earn his third straight victory.
Texas jumped ahead early when Wyatt Langford scored on Evan Carter’s RBI triple in the second inning. Ezequiel Duran followed with a ground-rule double to plate Carter for a quick 2-0 lead. García then stayed hot, launching his 20th home run against Houston since 2021 — the most by any player in that span — to make it 3-0 in the third.
Semien’s solo shot in the eighth put the game out of reach.
The loss handed Houston its fifth defeat in six games as Texas secured the series.
Next, the Rangers head home to face Detroit, while Houston travels to Seattle.
