LOS ANGELES — FC Dallas couldn’t find the back of the net in a 2-0 loss to LAFC Saturday night at BMO Stadium, as the Black and Gold leaned on home-field momentum to secure three points.
Maarten Paes, wearing the captain’s armband for the second time this season, delivered a strong performance in goal. The veteran keeper racked up seven saves, matching his season high, and kept Dallas within striking distance despite heavy LAFC pressure.
Before kickoff, FC Dallas honored the victims of the Central Texas floods by wearing black armbands. The club will continue to pay tribute throughout the season with a commemorative jersey patch debuting July 19 against St. Louis CITY SC.
Saturday’s match also featured some familiar faces in new uniforms. Former Dallas defenders Nkosi Tafari and Ryan Hollingshead started for LAFC, while Marco Farfan and Sebastien Ibeagha—both once with LAFC—lined up for Dallas.
The road continues to be a mixed bag for Dallas (5-10-6, 21 points), who’ve collected 16 points away from home this season. Next, they head north to face the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday night at PayPal Park. Kickoff is set for 9:30 p.m. CT.
